L’Écologie industrielle en 42 mots [Industrial ecology in 42 words] was written by Mr. Nicolas Vendette, an environmental designer and masters student at Université de Sherbrooke, as part of a summer internship he carried out at the CTTÉI in collaboration with the Technocentre in Industrial Ecology and the Cégep de Sorel-Tracy and by Ms. Valérie Côté, M. Sc. A., an interior and eco-designer. The goal was to highlight the links between industrial ecology and life cycle thinking.

The document determines the connections between industrial ecology and different environmental management approaches in order to better elucidate the benefits and the CTTÉI’s approach in a larger frame of reference. Given that one of the missions of the CTTÉI is to foster industrial ecology education, awareness-building and promotion, it made sense that the Centre would share its results. This guide aims to assist different stakeholders in better focussing their practices and perhaps make them even more sustainable.

Below are the illustrated links between certain environmental management concepts and life cycle thinking. Concepts on the larger circles tend to integrate the underlying notions.
